battalion280x160The North Bay Battalion and the Oshawa Generals needed a little extra time in game two of the Rogers OHL Eastern Conference Final.

The Generals were the only team to find the back of the net in a 1-0 overtime win.

Bob Coles with the call.

Dakota Mermis got the only goal of the game 1:01 into the extra frame.

The winning goal was scored after a questionable hit on Battalion forward Zach Bratina, which Coach Stan Butler wasn’t happy about.

Both goalies were outstanding on the night, North Bay’s Ken Appleby stopped 33 shots for the Generals, to earn the shutout, while Battalion netminder Jake Smith stopped 38 of 39 shots to come his way.

The Battalion opened the best of seven series with a 6-1 win on Friday.

The series shifts to North Bay for game three Tuesday night at Memorial Gardens.
