Council streaming

Some residents will be getting a little break in their taxes while others could see an increase.

It will all depend on the value of your home.

Council looked at the tax assessment analysis and policy review during last night’s (Monday) Committee Meeting of Council.

Mayor Al McDonald says it looks at all sectors of the city – including residential, commercial, and industrial.

McDonald says there was talk of shifting ratios to alleviate the costs in certain areas, but Council will not go in that direction this year.

Deputy Mayor Sheldon Forgette says he’s happy to see Council will keep the status quo, which also means a low industrial tax rate.

He says low rates for industries will only be part of what attracts them to North Bay.
