AstronautOver 1,000 students from the area listened intently to the words of Astronaut Lieutenant-Colonel Jeremy Hansen today (Friday).

Hansen spoke of the opportunities available for students who wish to explore space for themselves.

He says these types of messages helped inspire him to reach his goal and he hopes his message inspires others.

Jeremy HansenHansen says in terms of scientific advancement, he likes that North Bay is grabbing hold of some opportunities.

When discussing the S3 (Swiss Space Systems) Zero Gravity Flights coming to North Bay, Hansen says this kind of work is important to helping push science farther.

He says they are looking for people with an undergraduate degree and 2 years work experience to enter the program and says he is excited to see who will be the next team in space.

While he’s awaiting a flight assignment, Lt Col. Hansen works with NASA’s Astronaut Training Branch and as Capcom, the voice between the ground and the International Space Station, at NASA’s Mission Control Centre.
