Big changes are coming to Camp Tillicum.

There are plans to construct a 5500 Square Foot facility with ground breaking scheduled for next year.

They need to raise $1.5 Million and officials say they’re almost halfway there at $700,000.

The new facility will be called the Redpath Youth Centre.

The Redpath Group made a major contribution to the fundraising effort as did the Rotary Club of North Bay.

The president of the Camp Tillicum Board of Directors Spencer Merritt says they’ve already made some changes to the grounds to prepare it for the new building.

He says the old buildings and cabins have been torn down to prepare for the new structure.

George Flumerfelt is President and CEO of the Redpath Group.

He says the company has always been in support of programs that benefit youth and many groups will be able to have access to this centre including Scouts, Girl Guides and other groups and year round use too is another plus.

Rotary Fundraising Committee chair Bill Hagborg says they’ve contacted past users of Camp Tillicum as part of their fundraising effort.

Also, there are several other funding opportunities in the form of naming rights from $1,000 from being a friend of the camp all the way up to $100,000 for naming rights of various structures within the youth centre.

The new facility is supposed to be up and running by the summer of 2018.
