A key divisional win for the North Bay Battalion yesterday afternoon (Sunday) as they beat the Barrie Colts 4-3 in a shootout.

Blueliner Adam Thilander (pictured) scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Troops the win.

Zach Poirier, Brett Hargrave and Steve Harland scored in regulation while goaltender Mat Woroniuk made 20 saves.

The Battalion are back in action Thursday at home to the Soo.

 

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos look to extend their winning streak to 14 games tonight (Monday) against French River.

The Voodoos scored a 4-2 win over the Rapids on Friday night in Noelville.

 

A weekend split for the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers.

After a 4-0 win over Kapuskasing Saturday night, the Trappers lost to the Flyers 5-4 yesterday (Sunday).

That snaps North Bay’s winning streak at 10.

Nick Davis had two goals for North Bay in the loss.

 

In the OUA, both Nipissing Lakers hockey teams went 1-1 on the weekend.

The women overtook number one Guelph on Friday night with a 1-0 win, but lost 3-2 in double overtime to Brock on Saturday.

The Nipissing men, meantime, won 5-1 over RMC in Friday night’s Military Appreciation game.

The Lakers lost 3-1 to Carleton on Saturday.

In OUA basketball, both Nipissing teams lost to Ryerson and the University of Toronto on the weekend.

 

The Canadore Panthers men’s basketball team defeated second-place Centennial 82-78 on Friday, handing the Colts their second loss of the season.

Canadore is now fourth in the standings with a 4-4 record.

Meantime, the Canadore men’s volleyball team won 3-0 over Loyalist and 3-2 over Seneca on the weekend.

The women lost 3-1 to Loyalist then won 3-0 over Seneca.
