North Bay defeats Kingston 8-0 in game one Friday night

The North Bay Battalion made a statement in game one of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals as they defeated Kingston 8-0 last night (Friday).

Head Coach Stan Butler says despite the lopsided win, they will still have to play hard throughout this series.

North Bay opened the scoring in the first period at 17:04 on a goal from Mike Amadio.

The floodgates opened in the second with the Troops finding the back of the net five times. Nick Paul scored at 4:47, followed by a shorthanded marker from Ryan Kujawinski at 10:43.

Riley Bruce got his first career OHL goal at 13:27, followed by a second from Paul at 13:32 to make the score 5-0 for the Troops.

Zach Bratina‘s goal at 16:43 would chase Kingston Goaltender Lucas Peressini from the crease, as backup Jeremy Helvig was subbed in.

Kujawinski and Brenden Miller added a goal each in the third to bring the score to 8-0.

For the fourth time in five playoff series, Jake Smith has posted a shutout in the Game One. The Battalion net minder stopped 18 shots and Butler says Smith did everything he was supposed to.

North Bay will look to pick up where they left off for Game Two on Sunday.
