It was down to the wire into overtime, and the Voodoos couldn’t finish it yesterday, as the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners avoided elimination with a 5-4 win in game 5 of the best-of-seven series. The Voodoos were impressive last night against the defending NOJHL champions.

The Miners had an early lead in the first period 2-0, but Jake Staples scored a power play marker to make it 2-1.

By the end of the second period, the score was 4-2 with another goal from Staples.

Michael Silveri then scored in period 3 along with Bo Peltier, tying the game up 4-4.

Now the series moves on to game six at the Powasson Sportsplex, puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
