Council budget mtg1

Will there be enough support to pass the budget on Monday? The meetings are over and after the latest one yesterday (Wednesday) the budget increase is down to 2.17%.

Budget Chief Sheldon Forgette says the Police Services Board found $30,000 in savings through vested sick time liability.

The liability is usually a $3-million expenditure for the city.

Forgette says they are now only expecting 10 Councillors present at the meeting with one of them not able to attend. He says if the vote ends five to five the budget will be defeated, but Forgette says he is optimistic about the vote.

Forgette says in the end he still feels they need to invest in growing the city.
