windfarmThe City of North Bay is sending the province a letter saying the city objects to the Wind Farm proposal in Merrick Township.

While the city doesn’t have the authority to stop the project, Chair of Community Services Mark King says they hope they can sway Innergex to rethink of their location.

Mayor Al McDonald adds it could also affect the equipment and the training, and the city doesn’t want to lose out on future investments.

McDonald says they will also be asking the Federal Government to possibly set up regulations on wind farms and their proximity to the airports.  Meantime, McDonald says they will learn more soon directly from the Senior Representative from Innergex.

McDonald says they have invested lots of money into the airport and they don’t want to miss out on future opportunities because of the wind farms.
