North Bay City Council did not approve the Police Services Board budget this week.

Instead, they sent the issue back to committee as they want to see more cuts.

Right now the budget is calling for a 3.9 per cent increase.

Councillor Mike Anthony says he respects the job police do in keeping our streets safe, but he believes savings can be found in at least three areas: maintenance of quarters, fleet costs and information services.

His fellow councillor, Mark King went a little further saying the city should look at all options so an affordable police force is ensured.

He says the city has a two year window in which they could get a costing of providing police services for North Bay from the OPP.

King and Anthony both voted against the operating budget, which was approved on Monday, minus the Police Services Board budget.
