Helping give back to animals in need.

That’s the idea behind an online video campaign involving the North Bay and District Humane Society and North Bay’s own Cory Marquardt.

Animal lovers are being invited to create a short video with their pet and why they support their local humane society, then post it online with the hashtag #mypetforallpets.

Humane Society Executive Director Daryl Vaillancourt says there’s a donation piece too.

He says they’d like the local community to help out here, but also says, “we’re hoping it’ll catch province-wide and everywhere where you can help a reputable rescue of your choice or your local humane society.”

Marquardt posted his own video to kick off the initiative including his two dogs.  Click HERE to check it out

Video Guidelines:
– Person(s) with pet (cat, dog, fish, parrot … etc!)
– “Selfie” style (or you can have someone help you)
– Keep it short (30- 45 seconds)
– Tell us why your pet is special to you
– Show and tell! Hold up your donation (for example, $5, $10 or $20 bill) and explain what you’re giving on behalf of your pet. For example:” I’m donating $20 to my local humane society on behalf of my dog, Spot. My pet for all pets.”
– You can also challenge others to create a video by sharing/tagging others on social media
– Don’t forget to include the hashtag #mypetforallpets in all your posts (Facebook/Twitter/Instagram)
– Make sure to “tag” the North Bay & District Humane Society:
– Facebook – www.facebook.com/nbHumaneSociety
– Twitter – www.twitter.com/nbhumanesociety
– Instagram – www.instagram.com/northbayhumanesociety

Meantime, Marquardt has a big show coming up in the new year. He’s opening for Juno Award winner Brett Kissel January 13th at the Fraser Auditorium in Sudbury.
