The team has signed shooting guard and North Bay Native Carissa Poulin, who transfers from Dalhousie University in Halifax.

As well, transferring from the University of P.E.I. is forward Terrilyn Herrick – who played four years out East.

In a release Poulin says “I am a player who plays smart with a good basketball IQ. I am a shooter and I always focus on being a great teammate on and off the court. I am hoping to be somewhat of a leader for my future teammates due to my experience playing in the AUS and am looking forward to learning from Marg and my other coaches and hoping to help them out in any way I can.”

Head Coach Marg Jones says “I was impressed with Carissa’s character and maturity the first time I met her three summers ago. She demonstrates a strong court presence, is a very good shooter and is a vocal leader on the court.

“I admire Carissa’s desire to continue to play at the CIS level as she pursues her second degree. Her work ethic and experience will make her a welcome addition to the Lakers Program.”

After playing four years in the AUS, it is exciting to be able to play in the OUA where my family and friends are able to be in the stands.

Herrick is from Kinburn Ontario and Jones says of Herrick“Terrilyn is a skilled forward at both the offensive and defensive end of the court who brings height and length to our lineup. Her experience and composure enable her to play multiple positions on the floor and as a result will create matchup issues for other team.”
