NEW opp policeA 70 year old male from Gatineau, Quebec is charged following yesterday’s single vehicle collision on the Highway 17 off-ramp to Highway 11 southbound.

North Bay OPP say the transport rolled over the guardrail and down a steep embankment.

The driver was extricated by the Fire Department who had to use the jaws of life in the process. The driver was then taken to North Bay hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is charged for careless driving.

The ramp will be closed sometime today to remove the transport from the area.

A 35 year old woman from Sudbury is charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of blood after a traffic stop in North Bay.

OPP say they were dispatched after receiving a complaint about a vehicle on Highway 17 around 3pm.

Police located the vehicle and determined the driver had consumed alcohol and also faces a charge for driving while ability impaired.

(Assault charges)

Charges laid Monday by the Powassan Detachment of the OPP relate to a domestic occurrence.

A 47 year old South Himsworth Township man is facing nine charges in all after police were called to a Powassan home at 3 am.

The call came after someone was seen damaging a vehicle with a baseball bat.

The charges include two counts of assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000  and careless storage of a firearm as well as singles counts of criminal harassment, driving while ability impaired and driving with more than 80 mgs of Alcohol in blood.

No names have been released to protect the identity of the victim.
