There’s plenty of backlash on social media over an ad posted by a local ice hut rental operation saying status card users are not welcome in their huts.

The company has since posted an apology saying everyone is welcome, but that everyone in their huts “is to fish under one set of rules and regulations.”

With the title of Racism/Violence Combined, Ontario Regional Chief Isadore Day shared a couple photos of the ad and another social media post.

He says it was to “express concern and provide a starting point for dialogue toward addressing something that is developing into a very ugly situation imposed on First Nation treaty rights holders.”
