The snowy weather is having an impact on the clean-up of Tuesday’s derailment, but the ONTC is still confident the track will be operational sometime Friday.

That’s the word from Communications Manager Renee Baker.

At last check about 20 of the 25 empty rail cars that derailed are still on site.  Meantime, she says it’ll be a while before we know the cause of the derailment.

She says they continue to gather information to be analyzed and it will likely take several weeks before a cause is determined.

Baker also says the derailment is having an impact on freight service, pointing out on a weekly basis they have about 10 to 12 freight trains going through the area.
