The North Bay Battalion scored a 3-2 overtime win yesterday afternoon (Sunday) over Barrie.

The Troops were down 2-0 before Jacob Ball scored in the second and Steve Harland tied the game in the 3rd.

Adam McMaster scored the winning goal in the extra frame.

Battalion head coach Stan Butler says McMaster has untapped potential, “we need him to do more.  That was his 3rd goal of the year.  You look around the league at some of the other guys we feel he’s as good as or a better player than, and statistically they’re ahead of him.  Hopefully that’s going to spring him,” Butler said after Sunday’s win.

Goalie Brent Moran made 24 saves to earn the victory.

Captain Riley Bruce, who left the game early in the first period with an injury, says it was a big character win for the team.

“We definitely needed that.  We just have to grind and get a couple wins out of it,” he said.

Bruce is being re-evaluated today for a shoulder injury after a fight in yesterday’s win.

The Battalion are back in action Thursday at home to Sudbury.
