Specifically, the money is earmarked for resurfacing of 510 metres of Trout Lake Road from Giroux Street to Mountainview Drive along with the rehabilitation of Trout Lake Road Overpass on the city’s Highway 63 connecting link.

Mayor Al McDonald is thanking the province for the funding.

He says, “Coupled with City funding this investment through the Connecting Link program will help our community improve the safety of our roads, assist in stimulating our economy and create local jobs.”

Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines says the “Connecting Links program is one way we show our long-term commitment to Ontario’s rural and northern communities and to the families who live there.”

Meantime, Ontario is providing Burk’s Falls with over $1 million to improve road safety and create or sustain jobs through the Connecting Links program.

This project includes rehabilitation of Armstrong Bridge on the village’s Highway 520 connecting link.
