The province has announced $3.8-million dollars to help repair, renovate or upgrade sites at community agencies across Ontario, with funding for a couple local agencies.
Over $130,000 is going to the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
Specifically, $97,400 is to replace electrical distribution system and main electrical while $35,300 is to replace 30 windows.
Algonquin Child & Family Services (Hands Thefamilyhelpnetwork.ca) is receiving nearly $40,000.
That includes $15,000 to replace asphalt shingles, $12,000 to replace kitchen cabinets and counter tops, $5,500 to replace carpeting and $5,500 to install accessible wheelchair access doorway, assistance bars, tub and transfer lift for washroom.
The funding comes from the province’s Partner Facility Renewal program.
“Investments in facility repairs and renovations are investments in the safety, security and the wellbeing of the children and families that these community agencies serve. Ontario’s children’s treatment centres, children’s aid societies and youth centres provide vital support to our province’s most vulnerable. I’m thrilled to announce this funding, as it will help these organizations continue to provide the kind of care that will position children and youth for success,” said Michael Coteau, Minister of Children and Youth Services.
Also, only a few area events are getting funding from the Ontario 150 Community Celebration Program.

Nearly 20-thousand dollars is going towards the North Bay and District Multicultural Centre’s Drumming and Dance Festival August 5th and 6th.

10-thousand dollars each is going to the Dokis First Nation 17th annual Traditional Pow Wow and the Rubber Boots Festival in French River.

Both those events take place in late June.

Across the province, 7-million dollars is going to 367 different initiatives.
