Nurse Rally 3A rally was held outside Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli’s office today (Thursday).

Members of the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions, CUPE, healthcare workers and more were there in support of Sue McIntyre.

OCHU says McIntyre was let go by the North Bay Regional Health Centre after speaking up about violence in the workplace.

President of CUPE Ontario Fred Hahn says people have the right to talk about what is going on in their workplace.

Hahn says the demand is in the community to have these services.

He says they need the resources and support to keep those going.

MPP Vic Fedeli’s says this is a situation that he will be bringing to Queens Park.

Fedeli says when you make cuts there is less care and less service and it has a negative effect on the workers and the patients.

He says they are calling for a restoration of the cuts.

Michael Hurley says they will continue to put the pressure on the Hospital.

Hurley is the President of OCHU and he says people continue to speak up and won’t stay silent over this issue.

Hurley adds there will be another big rally at the hospital at noon on February 29th.
