A Peterborough goal with less than five minutes left resulted in a 2-1 loss for the North Bay Battalion yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

It’s the fourth loss in a row for the Troops.

Head coach Stan Butler says not capitalizing on 2 two-man advantages was the turning point, saying they have to move the puck quicker and shoot.

Butler also says his best line wasn’t the usual cast of characters, it was the line of Brad Chenier, Jacob Ball and Daniel Walker.

Zach Shankar scored the North Bay goal.

It was the Troops 3rd shorthanded marker in 2 games.

The Battalion are back in action Thursday at home to Sarnia.

 

The Powassan Voodoos are back in action tonight.

They’re hosting Cochrane at 7:30 pm at the Powassan Sportsplex.

The Voodoos are coming off a big 14-2 win over French River on Friday night.

 

A northern sweep for the North Bay Midget AAA Trappers on the weekend.

After beating New Liskeard 5-0 on Friday, the Trappers scored an 11-1 win in Timmins on Saturday.

Bailey Chenier had a hat trick with Nick Wojick and Matt Hardwick each scoring twice.

Four other players added singles.

 

In OCAA men’s basketball, Canadore defeated Fleming 87-69 yesterday.

This after a close 85-82 loss on Saturday to Durham.

Also on Saturday, both Canadore volleyball teams played Algonquin. The men won 3-0 while the women lost 3-1.

 

In OUA volleyball, the Nipissing women won 3-2 over Guelph yesterday while the men lost 3-0.

Both teams lost to Waterloo on Saturday.

A couple of wins on the weekend for the Nipissing men’s basketball team.

After a 93-84 win over Queen’s on Friday, the Lakers won 65-63 over York on Saturday.

The Nipissing women lost both of their games (to Queen’s & York).

In OUA men’s hockey on Saturday, Nipissing won 3-2 in a shootout over UQTR.
