Two North Bay residents have been charged with assault with a weapon following a weekend incident.

The charges against a 27 year old female and a 26 year old female relate to a Saturday night incident after a verbal argument turned violent between two women known to each other.

The 27 year old has also been charged with mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats.

The altercation started inside the residence when the 27 year old old was leaving.

Police say she was holding a kitchen knife and threatened the 26 year old.

Then outside the residence the 26 year old struck the other woman with a hammer.

Then the 27 year old slashed the tires of the other woman’s vehicle.

Both women sustained injuries with the 27 year old requiring medical attention and was taken to hospital.

North Bay Police have charged a 26 year old female with arson, possession of marijuana and breach of probation.

Police say they were called to a residential building on Nipissing Street.

Police say fire was set to garbage in one of the residential units yesterday and marijuana was seized.

North Bay Police have charged two women with drug related offenses following a traffic stop investigation at Ann and Front Streets on Saturday evening.

Police say a 39 year old Commanda woman and a 33 year old West Nipissing woman have each been charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

The Commanda woman is also facing possession of suboxone, possession of property obtained by crime and driving while under suspension counts.

Police seized 527 methamphetamine pills, 1.5 suboxone pills and $725 in Canadian currency.

The street value of the drugs seized is over $3,100.

North Bay Police say they conducted weekend R.I.D.E. checks in Callander and North Bay.

Of the 100 vehicles that were stopped, 3 motorists were issued 72 hour notices for committing equipment and documentation infractions and 1 motorist was charged with driving with over mgs of alcohol in the blood.
