The playoffs are here for the Nipissing Lakers.

The women’s hockey team entertains Laurentian in game one of their best of three series tonight (Wednesday) at 7 pm at Memorial Gardens.

The latest USports Top 10 rankings has the Lakers at 9th in Canada again this week.

Meantime, in just their third season, the Nipissing men’s basketball team earned a spot in the post season.

They’re home to Queen’s tonight at the Surtees Athletic Centre at 7 o’clock.

 

A mid-week game for the Powassan Voodoos.

They travel to Noelville to take on the French River Rapids tonight.

The Voodoos have won all eight games the two teams have played against each other so far this season.

 

The North East U16 “AA” Ringette team (pictured below with Team Finland) was in Paris, Ontario this past weekend to play their last tournament of the season.

The team is made up of players from North Bay, Timmins, Sudbury and the Soo.

Officials says they were competitive in all of their games and put on their best performance in a 4-4 tie against a team from Finland on Sunday morning.

Local players from the West Ferris Ringette Association include Hannah Boegel, Melanie Brouse, Tyler Caldwell, Lauryn Hamilton, Bobbie-Ann McCulloch and Kaitlin Pace.
