The North Bay Battalion are fighting for an Eastern Conference playoff spot with three games in three days this weekend against Western Conference teams, starting tonight (Friday) in Flint, Michigan.

Head Coach Stan Butler says this road trip is a tough one in October, let alone this time of the year.

“You figure out the miles from North Bay to Flint to Saginaw to the Sault, back to North Bay, I think it could almost become a Western Hockey League road trip,” he said.

The Troops and 67’s both have 46 points, two back of 7th place Niagara, with a game in hand.

Butler, though, isn’t watching what those other teams are doing.

“We got three teams going for two spots. I don’t face a lot of who people are playing, you’ve got to win your games,” he said.

Catch tonight’s game from Flint on Country 600 CKAT.

The broadcast begins at 6:55 pm.

The North Bay Midget AAA Trappers are on the road to Kapuskasing tonight for game three of their Great North Midget League semifinal series.

The series is tied at one win apiece.

Game four goes tomorrow, also in Kapuskasing.

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos are home to Timmins tonight at 7:30 pm at the Powassan Sportsplex.

The Voodoos have won three straight games.

The playoffs continue this weekend for the Nipissing Lakers.

In women’s hockey, the Lakers are in Sudbury Saturday night for game two against Laurentian.

Nipissing won game one 5-2 on Wednesday night.

In OUA men’s basketball, the Lakers take on Ryerson in the quarterfinals tomorrow night.

Nipissing defeated Queen’s on Wednesday to advance.
