Officials in South River are asking residents to conserve water.

They say there is a leak in the water distribution system and on Wednesday said Public Works crews were continuing to try to locate the exact location of the leak.

The village says failure to participate in conserving water may result in the water reserves being depleted.

The status is in effect until 4 pm on Friday.

The village points out this is not a health issue.

Officials say the water coming from the water treatment plant is treated and safe to drink, but a limited quantity of it is available so only use it when necessary.
