The Northeast LHIN has taken the next step in implementing strategy for improvements to housing for vulnerable people.

Recently, the LHIN met with District Social Services Board leaders and municipal representatives.

Sherry Frizzell is the Director of Home and Community Care for the LHIN.

She says they identified 43 recommendations in their most recent report and they fall into 4 specific areas.

They are clients and people, innovative housing and infrastructure, innovative health and social support provisions and innovative leadership and sponsorship.

Frizzell says the meeting to review the recommendations and go over next steps has been held with a housing forum now scheduled for June 7th in North Bay.

She says at that forum there will be some unique ideas from the north.

She says there will be a cross section of stakeholders and community partners that support indigenous people and that should bring great examples of innovative housing partnerships.

Frizzell says the reaction throughout the northeast has been positive with their collaborative approach.
