The Enterprise Olympics are coming to Canadore College in May.

Teams of high school students from across the north, that have an interest in entrepreneurship, will work with mentors from six different sectors to put together a business idea.

Spokesperson Bonnie Martineau says the groups will develop the idea, prepare a business plan and make a pitch to the judging panel.

“they choose a sector when they register and we make the teams at the event. They really learn to work with other students and brainstorm together as a group,” she says.

They’re also looking for the local community to get involved too.

“For the business community in North Bay, we’re recruiting mentors and judges and to really help the students come up with business idea and kind of be a sound board to structure their business idea and help them out,” Martineau adds.

Groups can win $500 and the grand prize winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship to a participating Northern Ontario post secondary institution.

The event takes place May 17th and 18th at Canadore College and is for full-time secondary school students, no older than 19.
