The city is spending $128,000 to improve the showers at the Pete Palangio Arena,

Chair of Community Services Councillor Mark King says the work will take place over the next couple of months and they hope to repair the moisture related damage that’s already happened.

He says over a period of time the showers have deteriorated and repairs have to be made given the age of the building.

He says they hope get 10 more years use of the arena so this may not be the last of the repairs.

Staff say showers in several of the change rooms have been heavily damaged from decades of use and the tiles and fixtures are in very poor condition in 8 of the change rooms.
