Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is bringing a couple messages from CUPE Local 2049 members to the province on Monday.

The workers, who marched to Fedeli’s office this morning (Friday) are involved in a labour dispute with the Children’s Aid Society.

The lockout has become a strike.

Fedeli says there are two messages.

“First, they asked me to take one message and the message was for the Minister, Minister (Michael) Coteau to take over the agency here and I said ‘I’ll bring your message, but let’s look for plan B, as well,” he said.

Fedeli says that second message is to ask the minister to get the employer to also commit to going to arbitration.

“That’s where this needs to be, it’s needed to be there all along,” he added.

Nipissing’s MPP says he’ll bring the union’s message to the minister, in person, to Queen’s Park on Monday.
