The North Bay Police Service is welcoming two new police officers.

Both are former Widdifield students and Canadore grads.

Constable Braeden Ransom (above) and Constable Ryan Robertson (below) were both sworn Monday morning.

Ransom began his career as a security guard and a security shift supervisor with the North Bay Regional Health Centre, and as an asset protection guard with Detour Lake Gold Corporation.

Robertson took part in the city police mentorship program, also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Nipissing University and was hired in March 2013 as a special constable.

He received his police badge from his father Tom, a city police detective constable.

“For him to be able to do that, come up there with me, he’s been there with me the whole way so for him to be there with me at the end, it’s nice,” Cst Ryan Robertson said.

Ransom says his dad worked in forensics with the North Bay Police Service for over a quarter of century and he wanted to continue in that tradition.

“As I grew up and learned more (about) what actually is involved in policing I just got drawn to that even more.  I’ve been volunteering here for a long time and I’m excited to start working for them and helping out in a different kind of way,” he says.
