A 32 year old city man has been banned from owning animals for 10 years after being found guilty of four animal cruelty counts.

They include:
– Permitting distress to an animal
– Failure to provide adequate and appropriate medical attention
– Failure to comply with an Ontario SPCA Order
– Obstruction

Last August an Ontario SPCA Agent attended a city residence and saw a Great Dane-type dog with a large mass on his forehead.

Officials say orders to have the dog examined by a veterinarian were not complied with and attempts were made to hide the dog at another location.

The animal was then removed and brought to a vet.

The mass turned out to be a cyst that was removed, along with a damaged eye.

The dog has since been re-homed.
