Police advise of scam

North Bay Police say there is an ongoing inheritance letter scam circulating in the community.

It describes the recent death of a fictitious wealthy foreigner who has the same last name as the recipient of the letter.

The recipient is asked to provide personal information so they cash in on a attractive inheritance.

Police say the goal is to steal your identity or money.

Their advice is not to respond to the letter and report to the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
