This is Local Food Week in Ontario and a Local Food Map has been launched to celebrate.

The Nipissing and Area Food Roundtable with Transition Town North Bay has created a map of local food producers and farmers’ markets in Nipissing District and area.

Consumers can search by location, product, accessing local food, on-farm experiences and educators can search “school” to find out which local food producers host school groups.

Officials with the Nipissing and Area Food Roundtable say buying local food benefits the local economy, reduces greenhouse gas emission, builds community and helps people understand where our food comes from.

The map can be found at www.nipissingareafood.ca/resources/local-food-map/
