A 45 year old Timmins man is facing several charges after a police pursuit into and through the City of North Bay last night (Thursday).

North Bay Police say they were contacted by OPP around 10:30 pm about the location of a pick-up truck, stolen from South River and heading to North Bay along Highway 11.

Provincial Police pursued the vehicle onto Lakeshore Drive, where they deployed a spike belt.

But, the vehicle went around it and OPP discontinued their pursuit near the Omischl Sports Complex.

After an attempt by city police to stop the vehicle didn’t work, a pursuit was started and a spike belt was deployed on Lakeshore at Judge.

One tire on the truck was deflated, but the vehicle continued on towards Algonquin Avenue.

The chase came to an end when the driver drove off the roadway behind a restaurant on Algonquin.

Police say the man refused to get out of the vehicle and fought with officers.

A taser was used in the arrest.

Police say the team effort involved 9 cruisers and a forensics van.
