It was unanimous.

All of the Near North District School Board trustees voted to consolidate 3 elementary schools into a new one.

The three that will close are E.T. Carmichael, E.W. Norman Public School and W.J. Fricker and the new school would be built at the Fricker site.

Board chair David Thompson says they’ll now apply to the province for a new elementary school build with the plan to open the new school in 2020.

Thompson says no decision has yet been made on the secondary school plan and nothing will happen until the fall.

He was asked if he’s surprised as to how quiet the elementary Accommodations Review process has been, compared to the secondary process.

He says there were no public arguments made against their elementary ARC plan.
