Ontario Northland is looking for 60 skilled workers to add to their workforce.

The Remanufacturing and Repair division is holding a job fair in North Bay next Thursday.

Director of Marketing and Communications Rebecca McGlynn says specifically they’re looking for 40 Production Workers, along with electricians, electrical engineers, quality assurance inspectors and supervisors, to name a few.

McGlynn adds some of these are great entry level positions with plenty of opportunities to move up within the company.

She also says with more repair work on freight cars and coaches coming this fall, they need more employees to handle the production.

The Remanufacturing and Repair division currently employs over 200 trades people and professionals, who work together to produce superior railcars that exceed customer expectations.

“We are looking for motivated and skilled people to join our team,” stated Dennis Higgs, Vice President of Remanufacturing and Repair. “Most significantly, we are looking for over 40 Production Workers. This general labourer position is key to our manufacturing operation and a great entry position.”

This past year was successful for the Remanufacturing and Repair Centre having manufactured luxury passenger coaches from Western Canada, repaired over 200 freight cars, completed multiple locomotive overhauls, and delivered new equipment for the Polar Bear Express passenger train.

“The Remanufacturing and Repair division continues to attract work from transportation companies throughout North America creating a strong and stable workforce in North Bay that continues to grow,” stated Corina Moore, President and CEO. “Ontario Northland is truly an economic success story for the region and you can expect more good things to come.”

In 2016 the Remanufacturing and Repair Centre hired 80 people in North Bay, since then 31 labourers have advanced into other roles in the company with many starting apprenticeships.
