Mattawa is getting some national attention tonight .

The CBC-TV show Still Standing has been in Mattawa the last couple of weeks and tonight the whole country gets to find out what Mattawa is all about.

Mattawa Mayor Dean Backer says Comedian Jonny Harris spotlights small towns in his weekly summer time show.

He says Harris does a live stand up show broadcast every week during the summer highlighting a community that has been on the ropes and Mattawa fits the bill.

Backer says the show also recognizes citizens who have stuck it out.

Backer says Mattawa is resilient despite the job losses and the community continues to move forward.
Backer says the live broadcast begins at 8 pm at the Voyageur Inn.

He says Mattawa’s been through a lot and deserves this recognition.

He says many of the community’s citizens will be highlighted this evening including Clermont Duvall and the Turcotte Chip Stand which has been part of the community for 7 decades.

Backer says there was a crew in town for 10 days in preparation for the broadcast.
