City Council has taken a couple of steps to replace the West Ferris Arena.

Chair of Community Services Councillor Mark King says they have initiated the geotechnical assessment work to a maximum of $60,000.

Right now they are looking at geotech work at two sites Memorial Gardens and the Omischl Sports Complex.

As well, King says they’ve created a special arena committee made up of council members that will look at several issues.
“everything from cost to the geotech process and how that relates to the overall project.”
The committee will be reporting back to council with recommendations for direction at the end of next month.
King says if there are other sites council wants to look at during the first committee meeting “we’ll take that into consideration.”
The wish list is to start construction on 1 or 2 new pads by the spring with the new facility to be ready by September of 2019.
