2016 Young Hercules team

 

Eleven North Bay Norsemen and Valkyries took part in the Young Hercules Contest in Scarborough on the weekend with six locals reaching the podium at the Ontario Weightlifting Association’s Youth Championship.

Valkyries Kiana Lacasse and Emma Mondor won gold while Hannah Knight and Olivia Talbot won silver.

On the men’s side Norsemen Jacob Brindle won gold while Koltin Atkins won silver.

Meantime, the Norsemen and Valkyries won the top team pennant.

 

Some great results for CT-33 Thunderbirds swimmers at a recent invitational meet in Sudbury.

10 year old Peyton Parolovos (pictured below) had four first place finishes.

Other top three finishers were Timothy Corbeil, Drew Sinclair, Olivia Trottier and Trael Daly Stevens.

Daly Stevens also broke two club records at the meet while the girls 11-12 200 Free Relay team swam to a club record.

A few other swimmers also achieved personal best times.

 

The NDA soccer playoffs are underway.

In the senior boys quarterfinals, Widdifield shutout Franco Cite 3-0 while West Ferris won 2-0 over Algonquin.

In Varsity girls, Franco blanked Northern 2-0, Algonquin won 4-1 over Chippewa and Widdifield shutout West Ferris 2-0.

In junior boys, Chippewa won 2-1 over Algonquin.

 

In NDA baseball, St Joseph-Scollard Hall is now 3-0 on the season after a win over FJ McElligott (no score provided).

Eric Allair got the win with a complete game, no-hitter.

Every Bears player had at least one hit in the game.

 

And a couple of aces in recent days at the North Bay Golf and Country Club.

Kate Bondett had a hole in one on the 7th hole while Rob Russell aced the 12th hole.
