In his first OHL game Aaron Dart scored his first OHL goal to give the Troops some life in the second period.

It cut the Battalion deficit to one and the Troops scored twice more in the second – and added a pair in the third for the 5-3 win over division rivals the Barrie Colts.

Dart was called up from the Powassan Voodoos to fill in for the depleted Troops roster due to suspensions.

They played without Riley Bruce, Mike Baird, Zach Poirier, Brett Hargrave and Zach Shankar was a late scratch after the warm ups.

Dart is the second North Bay born player to score for the Battalion this season after Hargrave became the first earlier this year.

Mathew Santos had two goals, while Kyle Wood and Cam Dineen were the other scorers for the Troops.

Both of Santos’ goals were power play markers and his second gave him a new career high of 12 goals in a single season.

After their worst loss of the season on Saturday, it was a good bounce back win over the Colts on Sunday for North Bay.

The Colts handed the Troops a 12-2 loss the night before in Barrie – but North Bay overcame a 2 goal deficit to pick up two big points yesterday (Sunday) and are still four points back of Barrie for the Central Division lead.

Butler says it’s good for his team to get the split in the home and home series.

Jake Smith made 35 saves on 38 shots as he backed stopped the Troops to the win over Barrie.

It was a big game for Smith who was pulled in the first period of Saturdays 12-2 loss to the Colts.

Smith says it was an important win for North Bay.

The Troops victory gives them their 8th straight home win going back to November 19th.
