Three local organizations will benefit from a fundraising event last month in the community.

Organizers of the Mayor’s Casino Royale event say $100,000 was raised.

The money will be split evenly between the North Bay Food Bank,  the Canadore student food bank and Creative Industries, which is an organization dedicated to the arts.

Katharine Strang is chair of the North Bay Food Bank.

She says the $33,000 they’re getting will go directly to purchasing food.

“We are now at the point of month to month. We’re building up our reserves again making sure we have enough food for everyone. We have Coach4Food coming up. so between this money and Coach4Food we’re back on an even playing field so we will be able to keep our shelves stocked,” she says.

Canadore spokesperson Brad Gavan says the money going to the college food bank is going to make a big difference.

This is going to benefit our students for 5 years. This money is very supportive of our students. We would like to thank the community that keeps on giving to charities that are so important to the community,” he says.
