North Bay’s Colton Point will suit up for Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship starting Boxing Day in Buffalo, New York.

Point, a standout NCAA netminder is one of two goalies named to Canada’s roster, and is expected to back up Carter Hart.

The final cuts, including Windsor Spitfires goalie Michael Dipietro, were made Friday night after a 5-2 win over Denmark in an exhibition game that closed out selection camp.

Point, a 6’4”, 220-pound 19 year old, allowed one goal in that game, playing the first half of the match-up.

“He’s having a great year,” Coach Dominique Ducharme said. “We like what he’s bringing in net. (With) his presence, the way he plays, and the way we see our team and our structure, the style that he has, we’re comfortable.”
