The North Bay Battalion have added right winger Jake Henderson to the line-up, acquiring the 20 year old from Kitchener prior to the overage deadline today (Tuesday).

The Troops also receive a 10th-round pick in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection with an eighth-round pick in 2019 going to the Rangers.

“He brings a big-body presence,” Stan Butler, the Battalion’s director of hockey operations and head coach, said of Henderson in a release from the OHL club. “He’s a good penalty killer and a really good team man.”

“Jake has been a heart and soul player for us and will be missed in Kitchener on and off the ice,” said Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie in a release.

With the addition of Henderson, the Battalion once again have the maximum three overage players, including defencemen Riley Bruce and Jesse Saban. Brett McKenzie was traded to Owen Sound last week.

Henderson, who’s from St Louis, Missouri has six goals and 14 assists for 20 points with 18 penalty minutes in 40 games this season.

The Battalion also announced that right winger Alex Robert cleared OHL waivers and has been released.

Defenceman Eric Allair has been reassigned to the Powassan Voodoos, the Troops’ NOJHL affiliate.

Their roster stands at 23 players, including 14 forwards, seven defencemen and two goaltenders.
