Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for much of the northeast, including the North Bay area.

It all has to do with a wintry mix of precipitation this afternoon, including snow, ice pellets and a risk of freezing rain, which will taper off this evening.

The agency also says any freezing rain is expected to be rather light and patchy.

Strong wind gusts are also in the forecast.

Meantime, school buses in West Parry Sound and East Parry Sound, south of Hwy 522 have been cancelled because of icy conditions.

Schools remain open.
