battalion280x160A 4-1 third period lead wasn’t enough for the North Bay Battalion on Sunday in Sault Ste Marie.

The Greyhounds scored three goals in the third then won the game 5-4 in a shootout.

Jake Kment made 37 saves in the loss for North Bay.

Brett McKenzie had two goals with singles from Daniil Vertiy and Kyle Wood.

After picking up only one point on their three game road trip, including loses in Sarnia and Saginaw, the Troops will look to bounce back on home ice Thursday night against Oshawa.

 

Powassan Voodoos_210In the NOJHL, Powassan defeated Rayside-Balfour 4-3 Sunday in Chelmsford.

Nicky Grose broke a 3-3 tie in the third period with his second goal of the game.

Tyler Peters and Aaron Dart had the other goals for the Voodoos.

 

And both West Ferris and defending champion Widdifield made it to the semifinals of the NDA hockey tournament on the weekend, but both local schools lost.

Manitoulin went on to defeat St Charles 6-4 in the final on Saturday afternoon.
