Laurier_WoodsThe interpretive hikes were a big hit this year as residents got to explore Laurier Woods.

The hikes were every Saturday beginning in August with the last one coming up Saturday.

President of the Friends of Laurier Woods is Fred Pinto and he says this weekend’s theme is the “History of Laurier Woods.”

He says throughout the season there have been more and more people coming out to the hikes to learn about their own backyard.

He says “there are so many different aspects of nature and I think there’s a general interest about our local environment.”

Pinto says they bring in experts to speak about North Bay’s specific ecosystems.

The hike will start at 10am at the Brule St. parking lot entrance to Laurier Woods.

Pinto says if it does end up raining or snowing they can do part of the session indoors.
