The North Bay Waterfront Development Committee has made its decision on a proposed location for a splash pad.

Community Services Committee chair Mark King says they’ve chosen the location adjacent from the Discovery North Bay Museum.

He says mobility for members of the general public was a key factor in the decision.

“That was deemed as a major issue. If we did it down on the beach it would be difficult for some members of the general public who are on wheelchairs to get down to the site.”
King says the final decision will be up to city council at the March 13th meeting.

Meanwhile, King says the Rotary Club of North Bay is contributing $650,000 to the project including $50,000 for site prep.

“An additional $100,00 is for change rooms which leaves $500,000 for the construction of a 6,600 sq.ft. splash pad.”
He says the city would be responsible to match the site prep number raised by the Rotary Club.
