The Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team has advanced to the second round of the playoffs.

This after a couple of 3-0 wins over Ryerson on the weekend.

After shutting out the Rams on Friday night in Toronto, the Lakers won the series on home ice last night (Sunday).

Nipissing will now take on Queens with game one on Wednesday here in North Bay.

Games two and three are scheduled for the weekend in Kingston.

In OUA volleyball, the Nipissing women finished the season with an 8-11 record, after a 3-1 loss to Ryerson.

Meantime, the Nipissing men await the playoff schedule after finishing the regular season with a 10-8 record.

They defeated Ryerson 3-1 yesterday.

 

Back to hockey, the North Bay Major Midget Trappers have advanced to the Great North Midget League final.

They defeated Timmins 9-1 on Saturday to sweep the best of five series.

North Bay will take on the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves in the championship series.

 

A couple of wins on the weekend for the Powassan Voodoos.

They defeated French River 8-3 on Friday in Noelville, then 5-1 on Saturday in Powassan.

 

And the West Ferris Dairy Queen Trappers (photo below submitted) captured the NDHL Peewee Central Division Championship yesterday afternoon.

They defeated the regular season champs Pizza Pizza 1-0 in the final.

Calder Ruddy scored the game winning goal.

DQ went undefeated in the tournament and advances to the Super Sunday event next weekend in Astorville to decide the overall NDHL Peewee House League Champions.
